Farah Al Qasimi: Greater New York

Farah Al Qasimi’s installation in Greater New York 2026 brings together a sprawling constellation of photographs made across Texas, Kuwait, Dearborn, Michigan, and the UAE, alongside research materials, ephemera, and found imagery.
Framed prints—including a woman lying in bed with her cat, another looking toward an oil refinery, and a chandelier suspended before a storybook waterfall mural—are hung across a large-scale vinyl wallpaper installation. Alongside these images, she’s hidden small cut-outs, YouTube comments, eBay listings, and stickers that offer glimpses into the artist’s process and visual thinking.
Drawing on subjects that range from utopian aspirations and consumer culture to migration, labor, oil, and the circulation of images, Al Qasimi constructs an aesthetic language attentive to the interior life and the global forces that shape everyday experience. Her work reveals an uncanny geography in which seemingly disparate places are linked through shared visual and cultural histories.
